The Bruins were generally considered as the much superior team than St. Louis entering the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs, and boy did Boston looked every bit that part in Game 3, as it decimated St. Louis, 7-1. The Bruins didn’t waste much time in setting the tone for the contest, chasing Blues netminder Jordan Binnington early, as Boston scored three unanswered goals right in the first period. The Bruins dug St. Louis a deep hole the Blues couldn’t climb out of. It’s a statement victory for Boston, which probably also has dented the Blues’ mindset about the series, whether they admit it or not. The Bruins went 4-for-4 on the power play. They are now 6-for-14 on the man advantage in the series. Their special teams are simply dominating St. Louis on the attack, a trend that’s fair to expect will continue.

Welp! There’s no way for the Blues to come up with a more believable excuse for their embarrassing loss in Game 3 than the clear fact that they were completely dominated by Boston in almost every area. The first thing the Blues need to do after that setback is to forget about the manner they lost and figure out how to prevent another such loss. Binnington, in particular, will have to move one quick from his lousy performance, allowing five goals in 19 shots faced before getting pulled out for Jake Allen. It doesn’t seem Binnington’s status as the team’s starter is in danger, but it should also be noted that Allen has more experience than the rookie. Allen, however, allowed a goal in four shots he dealt with in Game 3, so that didn’t helped his cause. The Blues will have to be better on the power play. They went 1-for-5 on the man advantage in Game 3, but that wasn’t enough. Conversely, they should also make better decisions on the ice in order to avoid giving up too many power play chances to Boston.
The Blues are 3-2 in their last five home games.
