Betting on the Carolina Hurricanes (+1.5)

Regular Season Record: 52-21-9

The Hurricanes did not expect this. They knew the Panthers were going to be tough customers but they could have not thought they would be down two games to none by this point in the series. Nevertheless, Carolina is still a formidable team with plenty of weapons – and apparently good recent history in Florida. The Hurricanes have won seven of their last 10 trips to the home of the Panthers. Moreover, Carolina is still winning the possession battle against the Panthers. The Hurricanes have a 5-on-5 51.18 CF% versus Florida. That’s still a good sign for Carolina, which is 5-1 in its last six games after scoring 2 goals or fewer in their previous outing.

Betting on the Florida Panthers (-1.5)

Regular Season Record: 42-32-8

The Panthers are just so hard to take out, as the Hurricanes are finding out. There’s nothing that will intimidate Florida at this point in the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs. For one, the Panthers are the team that eliminated this season;’s Presidents’ Trophy winners Boston Bruins in the first round. Then they got the job done in five games in the second round versus the Maple Leafs. Sergei Bobrovsky has been a hero of sorts for the Panthers in the postseason in which the goalie has a 9-2 record with a 2.32 GAA and .931 saves percentage. The Panthers are 7-2 in their last nine meetings with Carolina.

Writer’s Prediction

The Hurricanes win, 4-2.
