Betting on the Carolina Hurricanes (+1.5)

Regular Season Record: 52-21-9

The Hurricanes are still alive, and that’s the most important thing at the moment for the team. However, they are gasping for air, particularly on offense following a 1-0 loss in Game 3 to Florida in Sunrise last Monday. The Hurricanes outshot Florida, 32-17, but just couldn’t get the goals they needed to bury the Panthers. In Game 3, the Hurricanes had an astounding advantage in 5-on-5 CF% (73.49%) to go with a 5-on-5 75.61 SCF%. That has been the story in the series so far for the Hurricanes who just have to keep on dominating the possession and believing that the goals will finally come in bunches in Game 4.

The Hurricanes are 4-1 in their last five Wednesday games.

Betting on the Florida Panthers (-1.5)

Regular Season Record: 42-32-8

If you want to know why Carolina could not solve the Panthers, then we have two words for that: Sergei Bobrovsky. The Panthers netminder has simply been amazing in the playoffs, especially in the Eastern Conference Finals. Overall in the playoffs, Bobrovsky has been out of his world, leading all goalies with a 19.5 goals above expected. His 1.399 goals above expected per 60 is also the best in the playoffs among goalies with at least five games played. Florida has the momentum and still the home-ice advantage in Game 4. Plus, all the pressure is on the side of Carolina. It’s the perfect setup for the Panthers, who are 4-0 in their last four games after giving up two goals or fewer in their previous outing.

Writer’s Prediction

The Hurricanes win, 3-1.
