Nadal in the French Open final? Whoulda’ thunk it besides a bunch of experts (although many picked Djokovic too) at the start of the two-week long ATP Grand Slam affair. But here we are with the King of Clay set to match up against the fourth ranked Austrian Dominic Thiem, who took out equally favored Djokovic after a suspended semi-final prolonged the Men’s Final headlines until now. Will the best ever at Roland Garros add one more victory to make it an even dozen? Or will Thiem spoil the fairytale ending on Nadal’s winding down career? Going into the highly anticipated match, the sportsbook favors Nadal, with -500 odds to boast 12 French Open titles, while Thiem is priced at +350.

Betting Preview for the French Open Men’s Singles Finals Match Featuring Dominic Thiem vs Rafael Nadal on June 9, 2019
Where: Stade Roland Garros, Paris
When: Sunday, June 9, 2019, 9:00 AM ET
Line: Dominic Thiem (+350) vs. Rafael Nadal (-500)
Betting on the Dominic Thiem (+350)
Well, there’s only man man who can stop Thiem now at the 2019 French Open after he booted world No. 1 Novak Djokovic out of the tournament via a 6-2, 3-6, 7-5, 5-7, 7-5 win in the semifinals round. Thiem is looking to exact revenge against Nadal for his loss to the Spaniard in last year’s Finals of the French Open. In that match, Thiem had a hard time catching up on Nadal. He managed to break Nadal’s serve just one time in eight offerings, while also putting just 53 percent of his first serves in. However, Thiem has already got some measure of revenge in this head-to-head, as he was responsible for one of Nadal’s few losses on clay. That was when he defeated Nadal in the semifinals of the Barcelona Open back in April. Thiem is one of the few players who’s given Nadal a legitimate run for his own money. Thiem has four wins in 12 meetings with Nadal, all coming in clay court showdowns. Thiem does know how to beat Nadal on clay, and it’s just a matter of execution for the 25-year-old Austrian.
Betting on the Rafael Nadal (-500)
Again, no one is surprised of Nadal’s entry into the Finals of the 2019 French Open. After all, he was the overwhelming pre-tournament favorite, and all he have to do now is beat Thiem to secure his 12th title at Roland Garros. To book a ticket for the Finals, Nadal had to go through a legend in Roger Federer, whom he beat with seeming ease, 6-3, 6-4, 6-2. Nadal devoured Federer with his excellent service game, putting 81 percent of his first serves in play and winning 68 percent of his first serve points. He broke Federer six times and won 48 percent of his second serve points. Nadal is eight years the senior of Thiem, but he’s got fresher legs coming into the Finals. Thiem and Djokovic had to play half of their match Saturday morning due to rain, so whatever rest Thiem is having between his win over the Serbian and his French Open Finals rematch with Nadal is considerably lesser than the Spaniard’s. Nadal has an insane record of 91-2 at Roland Garros and has successfully made his way into the semifinals of the French Open 12 times out of 15 appearances.
Writer’s Prediction
Nadal takes down Thiem in a five-set thriller.
