Betting on Toronto Argonauts (0-3-0)
The Argonatus are languishing in the bottom of the Eastern division standings. They are now arguably the worst team in the CFL after losing to the BC Lions, the worst club over at the Western Division, in Week 4 at home, 18-17. Quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson passed for 303 yards on 25 of 33 completions and finished with a touchdown and an interception. Bethel-Thompson barely got anything in support from the Argonauts’ rushing attack, as the team managed to compile just 41 rushing yards. They are going to need some more diversity in their attack in order to prevent being too predictable for Winnipeg’s defense that’s among the best in the CFL. Former Florida State running back James Wilder Jr. leads Toronto with just 105 rushing yards on 22 carries this season. The Argonauts, who haven’t won on the road since 2017, have yet to score a rushing touchdown this season.
The under is 2-0 in Toronto’s last two road games.
Betting on Winnipeg Blue Bombers (3-0-0)
Winnipeg kept its record spotless through four weeks of the season. In their most recent outing, the Blue Bombers destroyed the Ottawa Redblacks on the road, 29-14. Winnipeg quarterback Matt Nichols threw for 262 yards and a touchdown with zero interceptions on 16-of-20 completions but was not able to finish the game due to an injury after getting hit while rushing with the football. It remains uncertain as of this writing whether Nichols will be able to play this Friday against Toronto, but he’s already stated that he expects to play. If he can’t give it a go, though, that’s likely going to mean that backup Chris Streveler will take snaps under center against Toronto. Streveler finished the job left by Nichols in the Ottawa game, finishing the contest with 42 passing yards and a touchdown and interception on 6-for-8 completions. Wide receivers Lucky Whitehead and Nic Demski lead the team with 174 and 133 receiving yards on the season with a combined total of three touchdown passes.
Toronto is 4-0 against the spread (ATS) in its last four home games.
