The Kurt Busches and the Martin Truexes of the world can’t win every race (can they?) which is why it’s important for bettors to take a closer look at some drivers who may not have as tantalizing odds as the favorites, but have hidden value. Take for example the three drivers we have listed below as sleepers for the upcoming 2019 Gander RV 400.

Ryan Newman
Sitting on the 15th place of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup standings, Newman is certainly far from being out of the woods. That’s going to be one of his key motivations this coming weekend at Pocono Raceway, though, momentum could be a bigger factor for him. See, Newman has managed to record a top 10 finish in five of his past six races. That includes his seventh-place campaign in New Hampshire. Newman is also no stranger to success in Long Pond, and heading into this Sunday the 41-year old is putting the young bucks on notice. However, his last and only win at the Pocono Raceway so far in his career was way back in 2003 during The Pennsylvania 500, but hey, that’s why he’s a sleeper.
Daniel Suarez
Suarez went back down to earth after a confidence-boosting eighth-place finish at the Quaker State 400 in Kentucky, as he finished just 19th overall at last week’s staging of the Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 in New Hampshire. A chance to bounce back (and garner much-needed Cup points) await him in Long Pond. In his last two starts at Pocono Raceway, Suarez has managed to finish both inside the top 10. He was eighth in last June’s Pocono 400 and second during the 2018 version of the Gander Outdoor 400.
Clint Bowyer
Bowyer wasn’t able to build on his strong sixth-place finish at the Kentucky Speedway during the 2019 Quaker State 400. In the following race, Bowyer finished just 20th overall at the Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 in New Hampshire.Having said that, it’;s hard to underestimate Bowyer, especially since he has finished inside the top 10 in exactly half of his races this year. Moreover, he has finished no worse than 11th in three of his last three appearances at Pocono Speedway. He was fifth there during the Pocono 400 last June.
