Cleveland Browns vs Indianapolis Colts Predictions, Picks, Odds, and Betting Preview – NFL Preseason Week 2 – August 17 2019

How about them Cleveland Browns? The Browns are having fun this preseason, as evidenced by their win in Week 1 over the Washington Redskins. There’s a long way to go for Baker Mayfied and company before they can be taken seriously, but the talent is there for the team. As for the Indianapolis Colts, they are taking aim at deflating the Browns’ hype balloon, when Cleveland visits them at Lucas Oil Stadium. The Browns are +1200 to win Super Bowl 54, while the Colts are -150 to top the AFC South division.

Betting on the Cleveland Browns (1-0 Preseason)

That sound you’re hearing is the Browns’ hype train, and as of the moment, no one’s stopping it. Not even the football Gods. In their preseason opener, the Browns seemed incapable of making any mistakes despite being the undisputed masters of blunder all these years, as they crushed the Washington Redskins at home, 30-10. Baker Mayfield appeared in just one drive and it was all it took for him to engineer a touchdown, going 5 of 6 for 77 yards in the process. Rashard Higgins and D.J. Montgomery each scored a touchdown reception. Cleveland’s defense was voracious, as it recorded a total of three sacks, three interceptions — one returned for a touchdown by Mack Wilson. There is only so much one could tell from a preseason game, but it does feel as though the Browns are truly ready to contend not only for a division title or conference championship, but most importantly, for a Super Bowl.

The Browns are 8-2 against the spread (ATS) in their last 10 preseason games.

Betting on the Indianapolis Colts (0-1 Preseason)

Andrew Luck is still not practicing due to a calf issue, but even if he does at some point this week, it would be a wise decision for the Colts not to send him to the field against the Browns. That means Jacoby Brissett will be mostly relied upon to run the offense this coming Saturday. Brissett was not able to generate points for the Colts in the first three series of his appearance in a 24-16 road loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 1 of the preseason. He’ll be sharing quarterbacking duties with Chad Kelly and Phillip Walker. Kelly had 121 passing yards on 13-for-19 completion, while Walker went 8 of 18 for 85 passing yards and a touchdown. Colts head coach Frank Reich rued the lack of success on the ground of the Colts against the Colts, which could mean there will be more workload for Indianapolis’ backfield in the Browns game. The Colts finished the game with 105 rushing yards but only had 16 in the first half.

The Colts are 7-3 against the spread (ATS) in their last 10 preseason games.

Writer’s Prediction

The Browns win, 31-21.
