The Waste Management Phoenix Open traces its beginnings to as far back as 1932, when it was only known as the Phoenix Open. After 1935, the tournament hibernated for a few years, jumpstarting back to life in 1939. Although the Waste Management Phoenix Open coincides with Super Bowl 54 week, the interest in the tournament remains high, thanks to a number of high-profile golfers headed to Scottsdale to compete like Hideki Matsuyama, John Rahm, Justin Thomas, and defending champion Rickie Fowler – as it should because of the heavy bag that’s up for grabs for the participants.
