FAVORITES
Joey Logano
The 2018 NASCAR Cup winner (priced at +800 to take it in 2020) will look to shine in Daytona this weekend notwithstanding the fact that he’s not been historically great at the track. In 22 races a the Daytona International Speedway, Logano has garnered an average finish of 12.66. That said, he’s finished inside the top four in two of his last four races there, including last year’s fourth place at the Daytona 500.
Kyle Busch
The reigning and defending (+425 odds to do so) Monster Energy Nascar Cup Series Champion is eyeing to set the tone early this year with a strong performance at the Advance Auto Parts Clash. Busch, however, like Logano, usually isn’t a great performer in Daytona. Busch has won just once in 29 career races at the Daytona International Speedway and you have to go back two decades to see that lone win there. Busch topped The Coke Zero 400 Powered By Coca-Cola in 2008 in Daytona, and since then has managed a top-10 finish just five times in 21 races there.
SLEEPERS
Jimmie Johnson
Johnson will be a sentimental pick for many NASCAR fans. The legendary driver who has won seven NASCAR Cup titles is on his last season as a full-time NASCAR driver, and what a great boost it would be to his goal of winning a record-breaking eighth Cup title if he could top the field in Daytona this coming weekend. Johnson has three wins in 36 career races at the Daytona International Speedway. And hey, he also won in this event in 2019.
Erik Jones
Jones doesn’t have the lengthy experience of the likes of Johnson and others, but one thing he could say is that he’s already won in Daytona despite only racing there just six times in his career. Jones, who is only 23 years old, won The Coke Zero Sugar 400 at the Daytona International Speedway in 2018. He also placed third there last year during the Daytona 500.
LONG SHOT
Daniel Suarez
If you’re looking for a legitimate long shot to win in Daytona this weekend, then Suarez could be your guy. Suarez has raced six times in his career so far at the Daytona International Speedway and not once has he finished better than 17th place. His career average finish there is 21.64.
Writer’s Prediction
Erik Jones wins the 2020 Advance Auto Parts Clash.
