NFL free agents are getting signed left and right, but there are still plenty of quality players left without a new contract. The market should open up to them soon, but for now, they will have to wait for teams to turn the focus on them. Updated Betting Preview for NFL Free Agency Remaining Players as of March 23 2020
Jadeveon Clowney – Edge (Odds)
There will always be a market for athletically-gifted pass rushers such as former No. 1 overall pick Jadeveon Clowney. If it weren’t for his significant history of getting hurt, he likely would have signed a contract by now. With quarterbacks becoming more mobile and athletic these days, having someone who can mow down offensive tackles and get to the heart of opposing teams’ offenses in a snap is one thing of paramount importance this offseason to general managers.
Where he’ll end up:
Clowney did well as a rental in Seattle last season. Taking that as an audition for a guaranteed deal, the Seattle Seahawks should sign the former South Carolina Gamecocks star.
Jameis Winston – Quarterback (Odds)
Imagine how great the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would have been last season if Jameis Winston managed to cut even just half of his turnovers. Winston was trick-treating the Bucs with interceptions in 2019, but he also threw for 30 touchdowns. There aren’t plenty of teams left looking for starting quarterbacks, so Winston’s bargaining power isn’t likely in line with how teams view him now. He could end up taking backup QB money or a one-year rental as a starter.
Where he’ll end up:
The Patriots need a quarterback. How about they sign someone after seeing Tom Brady take what was previously Winston’s gig in Tampa? The Patriots are +600 to land Winston.
Robby Anderson – Wide Receiver (Odds)
Anderson seemed to have gotten fully aware of his pending free agent status towards the end of the 2019 regular season, as he came up with 420 receiving yards on 27 catches in the New York Jets’ final six games. Anderson is a deep-threat guy, who capitalized on the arm strength of Sam Darnold, and when he’s focused, he can be a dangerous playmaker down the field. In his first four seasons in the NFL, Anderson has amassed a total of 3,059 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns with a yards-per-catch average of 14.8.
Where he’ll end up:
Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers can be elite regardless of the quality of his weapons, but giving him Anderson should be an upgrade for him.
Breshad Perriman – Wide Receiver (Odds)
The level of talent among wide receivers at the upcoming 2020 NFL Draft is a threat to the market value of Perriman. That being said, he’s someone who can shore up a mediocre 2019 passing attack without being expensive. Like Anderson, Perriman is a lethal deep-threat weapon, one who has a career average of 16.4 yards per catch.
Where he’ll end up:
Washington Redskins (+15000 to win Super Bowl 55).
Jason Peters – Offensive Tackle (Odds)
At 38, Peters’ prime is way past him, but he’s proven to be effective even in the twilight years of his pro career. Peters was given an overall player grade of 82.4 by Pro Football Focus.
Where he’ll end up:
There are rumors that the Bucs could be interested in signing Peters if he is willing to shift to the right tackle slot. The Bucs are +1500 to win Super Bowl 55.
Shelby Harris – Edge (Odds)
Harris is coming off his best season in the NFL, as he had 6.0 sacks, 49 total tackles, and a forced fumble in 16 games for the Broncos. He’s also shown durability over the past few seasons, as he hasn’t missed a game since 2017. Overall, he had 15 sacks in three seasons with the Broncos.
Where he’ll end up:
The Detroit Lions just recently signed former Atlanta Falcons cornerback Desmond Trufant to provide a much-needed backbone for the team’s spineless pass defense that gave up 284.4 passing yards per game in 2019. But they still need additional playmakers in the secondary, a need Shelby can help address significantly. The Lions are +800 to win the NFC North in 2020.
Ndamukong Suh – Defensive End (Odds)
The Bucs were almost lifeless in their rushing attack last season, but on the other end of the field, they were a force defending against it, and that has a lot do with veteran DE Ndamukong Suh, who was excellent in stuffing spaces opposing running backs were looking to exploit. Teams will not be paying him money upwards of $7 million, but those hoping to turn their Swiss cheese run defense should have Suh in their radars.
Where he’ll end up:
Suh reportedly still wants to be in Tampa, which could also mean he’s open to taking whatever offer the Bucs will have on the table for him. We say, he’ll run it back with the boys down in Tampa.
