He stumbled at the Memorial Tournament, wherein he was cut, but recovered with a T2 at the World Golf Championships-FedEx St. Jude Invitational.
You got to feel sorry for Todd after choking on his lead at the World Golf Championships-FedEx St. Jude Invitational, as he fired a 5-over 75 in the final round before settling for a T15. But that’s just golf. It’s full of surprises. Speaking of which, who’s to say Todd can’t shock the field at the 2020 PGA Championship? That finish at the World Golf Championships-FedEx St. Jude Invitational could only fuel the 13-year pro top get his third win of the season. It could be remembered that he won the Bermuda Championship and the Mayakoba Classic in back-to-back fashion in November of last year.
It’s been a mixed bag of results for Watson this season, but one he doesn’t have so far is a win. Watson has three top 10s and five top 25s on the season, including his best finish — a T3 at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, which was part of a three-start streak of top 8s. In his last — and only — appearance at the TPC Harding Park, Watson finished solo 17th at the 2015 World Golf Championships-Cadillac Match Play.
