Betting on the Georgia Bulldogs (-7)

Record: 7-2 Overall / 7-2 Conference

In quarterback JT Daniels, the Bulldogs trust. Daniels has been sensational in leading the Bulldogs of late. Had he been healthy all year, Georgia probably would have made it to t the CFP semis. But the focus for the Bulldogs now is on winning the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Game. Daniels started for the Bulldogs in their last three games, during which Georgia went 3-0 straight up and averaged a whopping 41.7 points per game — over a touchdown score more than their season average of 33.2 points. In their last game, the Bulldogs tore apart No. 25 Missouri Tigers in a 49-14 win on the road on Dec. 19. In just three starts, Daniels has racked up 839 passing yards and nine touchdowns against just an interception. Meanwhile, Georgia’s defense will be honing in on stopping Ridder. The Bulldogs’ pass rush will be a threat to Ridder, especially since Georgia has Azeez Ojulari and Adam Anderson, who have 10.0 sacks between them.

Georgia is 2-0 in its last two games overall.

Betting on the Cincinnati Bearcats (+7)

Record: 9-0 Overall / 6-0 Conference

The Bearcats feel like they’ve been snubbed of a ticket to the College Football Playoff semifinals after going undefeated in the regular season and winning the American Athletic Championship Game over No. 23 Tulsa Golden Hurricane. It sounds cliche to say that the quarterback will be the biggest key for a team, but Cincinnati’s  Desmond Ridder is simply that for the Bearcats. When he gets it going, the Bearcats are going to be hard to contain even for Georgia’s defense. Ridder passed for 269 yards and a touchdown without an interception on 19-of-29 completions against Tulsa. He also added 83 rushing yards and a touchdown on 16 carries. But the defense of Cincinnati will also have to hold. It’s been successful this season, and it will face a tough challenge in the form of a surging Georgia offense. The Bearcats finished the regular season fifth in the nation with just 15.5 points allowed per game and seventh with 309.6 total yards surrendered per contest.

Cincinnati is 6-4 against the spread in its last 10 games overall.

Writer’s Prediction

Georgia wins, 31-24.
