Betting on the Cincinnati Bearcats (ODDS)
Record: 14-7 Overall/5-3 Conference
Cincinnati is coming off a 75-68 home loss at the hands o the Memphis Tigers last Sunday, but the Bearcats should still feel good. Prior to that, they won three games in a row, albeit against subpar competition. When they lost to Houston on Jan. 8 at home (72-69), Mika Adams-Woods led the Bearcats with 19 points, while hitting 3 of 4 attempts from behind the arc. Outside shooting can be a friend this time around for Cincinati, which is second in the AAC this season with a 37.6 percent shooting from the 3-point area. Cincinnati is also putting up 103.1 points per 100 possessions adjusted and allows only 96.4 points per 100 possessions adjusted.
Cincinnati is 6-4 against the spread in its last 10 games overall.
Betting on the Houston Cougars (ODDS)
Record: 18-2 Overall/6-1 Conference
Houston, which polays UCF at home this Wednesday, doesn’t have to introduce itself to the Bearcats because the Cougars have already whipped Cincy before, as mentioned already. In that game, Houston’s defense showed no mercy at the Bearcats, who posted just a 43.0 eFG% and 35.5 2FG%. Cincinnati also lost control of the ball 17 times. That’s not a fluke for Houston’s defense. That’s actually how scary it could get. The Cougars have one of the tightest and effective defenses in the nation, and now that it’s their turn to play at home in this matchup, it might only get worse for Cincinnati’s attack.
The Over is 4-1 in Houston’s last five games at home.
Writer’s Prediction
Houston wins, 77-57.
