Betting on the Houston Rockets (odds)

Regular Season Record: 14-37

The Rockets finally earned a win after five successive losses, upsetting the Dallas Mavericks at home last Wednesday, 102-93. John Wall returned from injury and led the Rockets with 31 points to go with 7 assists while Christian Wood had 22 points and 10 rebounds. Wall will not play in the game against the LA Clippers this Friday so he could rest in the first leg of a back-to-back schedule, which means he should be expected to play against the Warriors on Saturday. Wall was still recuperating from a left knee injury in the first meeting this season with Golden State, which ended in a 108-94 home loss back on Mar. 17. With Wall back, the Rockets will have someone with elite ability to control the offense and set the tone for Houston, which has been lights out from long range of late. The Rockets have averaged 15 threes over their last five games on 38.9 percent shooting.

The Rockets are 6-4 against the spread in their last 10 games against Golden State.

Betting on the Golden State Warriors (odds)

Regular Season Record: 24-27

The Warriors also ended their own losing skid, as they scored their first win in four games after downing the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday, 122-121. The Warriors, who will play the Washington Wizards this Friday, drew 41 points from two-time league MVP Stephen Curry to defeat the Bucks. Curry has been in his element this season, provided that he’s healthy. He had to deal with a tailbone injury a while back, but he’s obviously no longer slowed down by it based on the waste he laid on the Bucks. Curry and the Warriors can keep it going against arguably the worst team in the NBA right now in the form of Houston. The Warriors haven’t been as overpowering this season as they were in their championship years, but a Rockets game is one of the closest – if not the closest – anyone can get to a bonus round.

The Warriors are 4-1 straight up in their last five home games against Houston.

Writer’s Prediction

The Warriors win, 118-114.
