Betting Preview for the Andrei Arlovski vs. Chase Sherman Heavyweight Bout on April 17, 2021
Where: UFC APEX, Las Vegas, NV
When: Saturday, April 17, 2021
Odds: Andrei Arlovski (-133) vs Chase Sherman (+120)
TV Broadcast: ESPN
Betting on Andrei Arlovski (-133)
MMA Record: 30-20-0
Arlovski will not turn down a fight. With just a little over a week of preparation, Arlovski agreed to be Parker Porter’s replacement in the fight against Sherman. The former UFC heavyweight king will now have a chance to make noise again after losing to Tom Aspinall via submission last February. Having fought not too long ago, Arlovski should be in at least good physical form when he shows up inside the Octagon on Saturday. Before losing to Aspinall, Arlovski was on some kind of rhythm, winning three of four fights, including back-to-back victories via unanimous decisions over Philipe Lins and Tanner Boser, respectively. Surely, Arlovski will look to use his extensive experience in the pros when he takes on Sherman. The Pitbull has 17 wins via knockouts and three via submissions. The fact that he’s not the original choice as the opponent for Sherman also gives Arlovski that “curveball” threat on Saturday
Betting on Chase Sherman (+120)
MMA Record: 15-6-1
Sherman’s modus operandi when he’s inside the Octagon is simple: he is always looking to knock his opponents out. Out of his 15 wins as an MMA pro, Sherman has won 14 via TKO/KO. He is currently on a four-fight undefeated streak, winning all bouts over that stretch by way of knockouts. Only Ike Villanueva has survived past the first round among Sherman opponents during that span. Sherman is a busy striker that relentlessly moves forward. He is averaging 6.02 significant strikes landed per minute on 47.62 percent accuracy. Arlovski might still have some power left in his hands, but he’s 42, and the last time he knocked somebody out was way back in 2015 against Travis Browne. Sherman shouldn’t be significantly deterred by Arlovski’spower. Nicknamed “The Vanilla Gorilla,” Sherman has not been submitted. His last loss came at the hands of Augusto Sakai in September 2018 via TKO, the last of a three-fight losing skid before the Team Jackson-Wink MMA fighter turned things around.
Writer’s Prediction
