Betting on the TCU Horned Frogs (+13.5)

Record: 3-2 Overall / 1-1 Conference

Powered by one of the best running backs in the Big 12 and a great-scoring offense, TCU has managed to win three of its first five games of the season. Last Saturday, the Horned Frogs crushed the Texas Tech Red Raiders in Lubbock in a 52-31 victory to recover from a two-game losing skid. Zach Evans, who is second in the league with 117.2 rushing yards per game, generated 143 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns on 17 carries against the Red Raiders. But he was not even the best rusher for his team in that game. That would be Kendre Miller, who burned the turf for 185 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 12 carries. Miller is now 10th in the Big 12 in rushing yards per game (60.4) and tied for fourth with six rushing scores. That kind of rushing attack can be troublesome to any team, including the Sooners, who gave up 128 rushing yards on 27 carries to the Texas Longhorns last week.

TCU is 5-1 against the spread in their last 6 road games.

Betting on the Oklahoma Sooners (-13.5)

Record: 6-0 Overall / 3-0 Conference

Sooners head coach Lincoln Riley has a big decision to make ahead of the game against the Horned Frogs, and that’s whether to start Spencer Rattler on Saturday or go with the man that led them to a memorable 55-48 come-from-behind road win over the Longhorns last week. Rattler struggled in the first half of that game, resulting in his benching in favor of Caleb Williams. The backup quarterback finished the game with 212 passing yards and two touchdowns on 16/25 completions and also rushed for 88 yards and a TD on four carries. Riley might stick with who’s got the hot hand, so don’t be surprised if Williams gets the starting gig for the TCU game. Whichever quarterback Riley goes for, the Sooners’ offense can take advantage of the Horned Frogs’ middling defense that is allowing 28.0 points per game, just seventh in the Big 12.

Oklahoma is 7-3 against the spread in its last 10 conference games.

Writer’s Prediction

Oklahoma wins, 37-24
