Betting on the Navy Midshipmen (ODDS)
Record: 4-7 Overall/4-4 Conference
Navy sailed into an upset 17-14 road win over the UCF Knights in the Midshipmen’s most recent game. That triumph came after Navy lost two in a row to the Cincinnati Bearcats and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The Midshipmen do seem to be rounding into form at just the right time, heading into the battle against Army. Apart from beating UCF, the Navy has also lost by just three points at home to Notre Dame, which was ranked No. 20 at the time. Much of the Navy’s firepower comes from its ground attack, as usual. Daba Fofana leads the team with 799 rushing yards this season to go with six rushing touchdowns, though there are five other Midshipmen with at least 200 rushing yards, so far this season. While both Navy and Army are exceptional rushing teams, the Midshipmen boast of a much better defense against the run than their rivals. In fact, Navy is No. 5 in the nation with just 93.1 rushing yards allowed per game.
Navy is 3-0 against the spread in its last three games overall.
Betting on the Army Black Knights (ODDS)
Record: 5-6 Overall/0-0 Conference
The Black Knights are coming off a 44-7 win over the Massachusetts Minutemen in their last game. They have now won two games in a row, as the Black Knights also defeated the UConn Huskies, 34-17, in a prior meeting. Army’s offense is clearly humming of late, having scored that many points over that two-game span. Against the Minutemen, quarterback Tyhier Tyler went just 6/7 for 67 passing yards but burned rubber for a total of 101 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 11 carries. The Army is just as deadly on the ground as the Midshipmen, though, the Black Knights appear to have the more explosive quarterback. Tyler has 600 rushing yards on the season with 12 rushing scores, making him the first Army signal-caller to record at least 10 rushing touchdowns in a season since 2018.
Army, which won four of the last t six meetings with the Navy, is 5-0 against the spread in its last five outings overall.
Writer’s Prediction
Navy wins, 20-17.
