Betting on the Baylor Bears (-4.0)

Record: 6-6 Overall/4-5 Conference

Baylor fell short of its missions to win the Big 12 title and make it to the College Football Playoff, but the Bears can still confident against Air Force. For one, they’ve faced a bunch of tougher teams than the Falcons. The Bears went 0-3 in their last three games but two were against ranked teams, including the TCU Horned Frogs who will be playing in the CFP. Baylor will rely on its bruising rushing attack that finished the regular season 35th in the nation with 188.4 rushing yards per game. The Bears can count on freshman running back Richard Reese to deliver the goods out of the backfield after he won Big 12 Freshman of the Year honors with 962 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns.

Baylor is 5-1 against the spread in their last 6 matches against non-Big 12 teams.

Betting on the Air Force Falcons (+4.0)

Record: 9-3 Overall/5-3 Conference

The Falcons have won all their last four games. In their most recent outing, the Bears defeated a bowl-game bound San Diego Aztecs on the road, 13.3. Defense is the key to success here for Air Force, as it has always been for the Falcons, who finished No. 1 overall in the nation with 12.9 points allowed per outing. Air Force also has a lethal rushing attack. It averaged a nation-best 312.9 rushing yards per game this season. The Falcons are led by running back Brad Roberts, who racked up 1,612 rushing yards. He is also the freshly-minted Mountain West Player of the Year.

Air Force is 4-1 against the spread in its last five bowl games.

Writer’s Prediction

Baylor wins, 27-20.
