Now that the action at the Austin Country Club is over following the conclusion of the 2023 WGC-Match Play, the 2022-23 PGA TOUR season now marches on to the next one: the 2023 Valero Texas Open. With that said, let’s now take a look at some of the favorites, sleepers, and long shots to win this week at TPC San Antonio.
Hatton is the top favorite to win the 2023 Valero Texas Open, and that’s despite having an issue with his hand during last week’s World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play. Hatton lasted just one day in that tournament, as he lost to Ben Griffin. Nevertheless, Hatton is 7/7 this season with three top 10s, including a T4 at the 2023 Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard and a second place at THE PLAYERS Championship 2023.
Conners had a T17 at the 2023 World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play to recover from a missed cut at THE PLAYERS Championship 2023. On the season, Conners has six top 25s with eight made cuts across 10 starts.
Fowler is 10/11 this season with three top 10s, including a T2 at the 2022 ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP back in October. He is 2/3 in his career so far at TPC San Antonio, with both made cuts being T17s.

The 31-year-old Schenk is 12/17 this season with a runner-up finish not too long ago, having placed second at the 2023 Valspar Championship. He also has cracked the top 10 at TPC San Antonio back in 2019. To date, he has five top 25s so far in the 2022-23 PGA TOUR season, during which Schenk is also 31st overall in strokes gained: putting.

Ranked 80th in the world and 29th on the FedExCup standings, Detry has made the cut 11 out of 13 times this season, which includes three top 10s and six top 25s. He is coming off a T8 at the 2023 Corales Puntacana Championship, which was a nice recovery from a missed cut at THE PLAYERS Championship 2023.
The South African has missed the cut in each of his last two starts and eight of 15 overall this season. He finished eighth last year at the 2022 Valero Open at TPC San Antonio.
