After splitting the first two games at Dodger Stadium, the Dodgers and Angels resume their Freeway Series with two more games in Anaheim. The Angels will be gunning to retake control of the series behind the hot bats of Mike Trout and Albert Pujols, who will face the Dodgers’ struggling starter, former Angel Dan Haren.

Betting on the Los Angeles Dodgers
Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw didn’t have his best stuff last night, as he gave up three runs in seven innings. But the Dodgers offense bailed him out to give the blue half of LA a 5-4 win.
[sc:MLB240banner ]With those three runs, Kershaw has surrendered eight runs in his last six starts. Tonight’s starter, Dan Haren, gave up eight runs in just 5.1 innings of work in his July 5 start in Colorado, which marked the beginning of a disastrous string of outings for the right-hander. The Dodgers have lost in Haren’s last five starts, no thanks to his horrendous 10.03 ERA.
A big part of Haren’s problem has been his inability to keep the ball inside the park. His 22 home runs allowed are third-most in MLB, and he’s given up at least one homer in 10 of his last 11 starts.
With Haren’s troubles keeping the opposition from scoring, the big Dodgers bats will need to get back on track to tack on runs of their own. Yasiel Puig and Adrian Gonzalez, who had entered the series hitting fairly well in July, have been kept hitless through the first two games by Angel pitching.

Betting on the Los Angeles Angels
In the last two games, the talented Angels lineup faced the Dodgers’ devastating one-two punch of Zack Greinke and Clayton Kershaw and came away with an impressive return of eight runs. The duo of Mike Trout and Albert Pujols did their part, as they went a combined 7-for-15 with two doubles each in those two games.
If the Angels can touch up the Dodgers’ aces, what damage can their talented lineup deliver to Dan Haren, who’s been disastrous over the last month or so?
A couple runs of support in front of a home crowd would make starter Matt Shoemaker’s job a lot easier. Shoemaker has been a markedly better pitcher at home than on the road this season. He’s 5-2 with a 2.84 ERA in 20 more innings at Angel Stadium.
Shoemaker held the Tigers’ lineup to just three hits and no runs in seven strong innings in his last home start. That game was one of the eight Angels games that have gone under in their last 10 at home.
Writer’s Prediction
Haren and Shoemaker give up their fair share of runs, but they won’t be enough to go over the very high totals line of 9.0 set for today’s game. Take the Dodgers and Angels to go under 9.0 runs.
