Line: Los Angeles Angels at Detroit Tigers – view all MLB lines
The Los Angeles Angels finally snapped their four-game losing streak with a thrilling 8-7 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday night. It was a crucial victory for the Angels who moved half a game behind the Texas Rangers for the second wild card spot in the American League. They will look to sustain the momentum of that huge win when they take on the Tigers in the second game of their three-game set tonight.
[sc:MLB240banner ]Starting for the Angels this evening is Hector Santiago (7-7, 2.91 ERA). He struggled mightily with his control on Saturday, allowing four runs on three hits and four walks over just 3.2 innings in a 9-2 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays. The Angels are now 1-5 in Santiago’s last six starts.
The Tigers, on the other hand, will have Justin Verlander (1-6, 3.86 ERA) as their starting pitcher tonight. Verlander has a 1.67 ERA over his past six starts, averaging just over seven innings per appearance. He has only one victory to show for during that stretch with the Tigers struggling mightily on the offensive end. Detroit is 2-4 in those said starts.

Toronto Blue Jays vs. Texas Rangers (8:05 PM ET)
Line: Toronto Blue Jays at Texas Rangers – view all MLB lines
The Toronto Blue Jays extended their winning streak to four games with a heart-stopping 6-5 victory over the Texas Rangers on Tuesday. The Blue Jays improved to 17-4 in August after rallying for two runs in the ninth inning against Rangers closer Shawn Tolleson. With the victory, the Blue Jays are now a game ahead of the New York Yankees in the AL East race.
Pitching for the Blue Jays in the second game of the three-game set is David Price (12-4, 2.40 ERA). He was excellent for the Blue Jays on Saturday, allowing just two runs on six hits over eight innings while striking out nine in a 9-2 win over the Los Angeles Angels. He is the first pitcher in Toronto history to surrender three or fewer runs while striking out six or more batters in each of his first four starts with the team.
The Rangers, on the other hand, will counter with right-hander Colby Lewis (14-5, 4.29 ERA). The Rangers have won six of their last seven games with Lewis as their starter. He was superb in his last start, throwing seven innings of shutout ball in Texas’ 2-0 win over Detroit on August 21. Lewis now has 14 wins this season, tying a career-best.
