TV Broadcast: MLBN/ESPN

Betting on the Toronto Blue Jays (-1.5)

Regular Season Record: 38-28

The Blue Jays’ offense exploded on the New York Yankees in a 10-9 victory at home on Sunday to snap Toronto’s 3-game losing skid. They will look to provide Jose Berrios the same ample run support later tonight at Guaranteed Rate Field. Berrios is 5-2 with a 4.65 ERA and 1.24 WHIP this season. He has not allowed more than 3 earned runs in any of his last three appearances, including in Toronto’s 7-6 win at home over the Baltimore Orioles on June 16 when he went 7.0 innings long and gave up just 3 earned runs on 3 hits. The Blue Jays’ bats are supplying their starting pitchers with 4.54 runs per nine innings.

Toronto is 4-0 in Berrios’ last 4 starts.

Betting on the Chicago White Sox (+1.5)

Regular Season Record: 31-33

Veteran righty Lance Lynn will make his second start of the season tonight. In his last appearance on the mound, he pitched for 4.1 innings and allowed 3 earned runs on 10 hots with 4 strikeouts in a 9-5 road win over the Detroit Tigers on June 14. Hopefully for Lynn and the White Sox, he has finally shrugged off the rusts from a long layoff because of injury. Behind Lynn will be Chicago’s offense that features the bats of the likes of Josh Harrison, Leury Garcia, and AJ Pollock, who have had success in the past versus Berrios. In fact, the active roster of the White Sox has a collective .306 batting average opposite Berrios. Harris is 10-for-33 against Berrios in his career.

The White Sox are 4-1 in their last 5 games.

Writer’s Prediction

The White Sox win, 6-4.
