[sc:Football ]Fantasy Football Expert Guide Pickups for Week 7 of the 2015 NFL Season
FantasyPros
Position | Pick |
---|---|
Quarterback | Jay Cutler |
Running Back | James Starks |
Wide Receiver | Marvin Jones |
Tight End | Benjamin Watson |
Nathaniel Reeves of FantasyPros can be relied on every week (he wouldn’t be a part of a site called “Fantasy Pros” for nothing, right?), but he may receive some backlash after picking Chicago’s Jay Cutler as a start-worthy option at QB.
[sc:NFL240banner ]However, Reeves ditched all of Cutler’s past criticisms of being very inconsistent and turnover-prone. Instead, he rebutted with the fact that Cutler is fresh off his best game so far this season (353 yards, one TD), and that the return of standout Bears receiver Alshon Jeffrey should also do wonders for his production.
Reeves’ decision of picking up Marvin Jones from the Cincinnati Bengals also has its drawbacks considering the team’s offensive numbers are being spread out by Andy Dalton. Still, Reeves argues that with health and outings like his 95-yard, one TD day from Week 6, Jones is more than ready now to be a lock as Cincy’s speedy No. 2 receiver in an offense that seems to be unstoppable as we speak.
RotoBaller
Position | Pick 1 | Pick 2 |
---|---|---|
Quarterback | Brian Hoyer | Landry Jones |
Running Back | James Starks | Branden Oliver |
Wide Receiver | Stefon Diggs | Jeff Janis |
Tight End | Benjamin Watson | Jordan Reed |
Defense | Redskins D/ST |
Edward G of RotoBaller was a little more unorthodox with his top WR picks from the free agent pool, siding with two relatively unknown wideouts from the NFC North that are both owned in less than 10 percent of fantasy leagues.
First off, Mr. G insisted that Minnesota’s Stefon Diggs looks to be the Vikings’ savior for the team’s faltering passing game. With both Mike Wallace (ugh) and Charles Johnson (injury) not living up to their preseason expectations, Diggs’ 13 receptions for 216 yards over the past two games was enough proof of his potential in becoming Teddy Bridgewater’s new favorite target moving forward.
Meanwhile, Jeff Janis of the Green Bay Packers is also not the first name that pops into your head when we talk about Aaron Rodgers’ dependable downfield threats. However, Janis did put up decent numbers (two catches for 79 yards last Sunday) in place of ailing Ty Montgomery. Furthermore, with Randall Cobb’s shoulder not at a hundred percent and James Jones being the only reliable and healthy option in Green Bay’s passing game, picking Janis up while Green Bay is on a bye could be a worthy investment indeed.
NESN
Position | Pick |
---|---|
Quarterback | Brian Hoyer |
Running Back | James Starks |
Wide Receiver | Brandon LaFell |
Tight End | Benjamin Watson |
If you haven’t noticed by now, Green Bay running back James Starks and New Orleans tight end Ben Watson have appeared on all three lists here already. They’re hot pickups, alright, as Nicholas Goss of NESN had also attested. Starks already has a solid background of filling in well for Eddie Lacy’s injury spells last season, and Watson is further evidence that Drew Brees just makes any and all receivers into fantasy studs.
However, Goss – being an analyst for New England’s local sports network affiliate – couldn’t help but pick a Patriots receiver coming back from the PUP list to put up huge numbers for the league’s most potent offense as his top WR waiver wire acquisition this week.
Brandon LaFell was one of Tom Brady’s more steady options in the passing game last season, hauling in 74 catches for 953 yards and seven TDs. The knock on picking up LaFell as early as now, though, is that (as Goss had also stated in his article) the six-year pro out of LSU has yet to get accustomed to the team’s current offensive scheme. But with the way that Brady and the Pats’ offense is clicking right now, it’s never a bad thing to have one too many New England receivers as viable starters, right?
