The Indiana Pacers opened their three-game home stand with an emphatic 106-90 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Monday. It was a morale-boosting win for the Pacers who have lost four of their previous five games.
Starring for the Pacers in this contest was George Hill. He had season-highs of 20 points and 13 rebounds. He played a crucial part in Indiana’s back-breaking 39-4 run that turned a 21-point deficit into a commanding 14-point lead in the first half. Miles added 17 points for the Pacers who snapped their five-game losing skid to the Raptors.
Next up for Indiana is a showdown with Western Conference powerhouse Dallas. For the Pacers to remain undefeated in this home stand, they will need to continue their excellent play on the defensive end. Indiana forced Toronto to commit a whopping 21 turnovers which the Pacers turned into 22 huge points. The Pacers are second in the NBA in that department, averaging 20.1 points off turnovers this season.
The main concern for head coach Frank Vogel is Paul George who’s playing limited minutes because of an upper respiratory infection. He’s been held to just 17.3 points on 34.8 percent shooting in his last three games. With George struggling right now, the onus is on Monta Ellis to carry the offensive load for the Pacers.
