Betting on the Arizona Cardinals (2-9)
The Cardinals were once again used as an ashtray last Sunday, losing to the Los Angeles Chargers in a spectacularly sad manner to the tune of a 45-10 score. The education of Josh Rosen in his first year in the NFL continued in the Chargers game, as he passed for 105 yards and a touchdown against an interception on 12-of-19 completions. The Cardinals still have one of the most talented playmakers in the game in running back David Johnson, but the team is just so bad that it drags him down. Johnson only had 63 rushing yards on 17 carries against Los Angeles. Still, the Cardinals can hope for a turnaround at least in Week 13 as they are up against a careening Packers, whom Arizona may just be catching at the right moment. While the Cardinals struggle on numerous fronts, one area in which they don’t is on pass rushing, as they are second in the NFL with 37.0 sacks. Chandler Jones, who has 11.0 sacks this season, should be busy haunting down Packers gunslinger Aaron Rodgers in the pocket.
The over is 3-1 in the Cardinals’ last four road games. They have also gone 2-1-1 ATS in those contests.
Betting on the Green Bay Packers (4-6-1)
Given how they looked in most of their games this season, it’s no longer shocking to see them lose they they’ve been of late. The Packers have gone 1-4 SU in their last five games, a stretch that includes their 24-17 road loss to the Minnesota Vikings last Sunday. Aaron Rodgers only had 198 passing yards and a touchdown on 17-of-28 completions with zero interceptions. Rodgers will always have a target on his back and it doesn’t help him that he’s playing in front of a lukewarm offensive line that has allowed 36 sacks on the season, third most in the NFL. Maybe a week of rest, a game at the friendly environment of Lambeau Field, and an opponent that’s having it worse than them this season are all what the doctor ordered for the Packers. They will be up against an Arizona team that makes Green Bay look like the Rams by comparison. The Cardinals are last in the league in scoring offense and total offense with 14.1 points and 232.5 total yards per game. Arizona’s defense is also salivating for Green Bay, as the Cards are allowing 26.6 points per game, 26th in the NFL.
Writer’s Prediction
Green Bay wins, 29-20.
