Betting on the Arizona Cardinals (4-5)

Point Spread: (+)

At press, the verdict is out on whether Drew Stanton or Blaine Gabbert will be in the QB position for the Cardinals on Sunday in Week 11 against the Houston Texans. Stanton started the last two games in place of Carson Palmer who exited the season with a long-term injury, but may be joining Palmer on the sidelines after he himself sprained his knee last Thursday against the Seattle Seahawks. He is questionable this weekend.

Dating back to 2011, teams are 9-31 straight up in games where Blaine Gabbert started. Gabbert started five games for the San Francisco 49ers last season, which led to a record of 1-4 straight up and against the spread.

Betting on the Houston Texans (3-6)

Point Spread: (-)

The Houston Texans season can be broken down into two segments. One with rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson and one without. The Texans boasted the top scoring offense in the league with Watson, and proceeded to fall apart offensively with Tom Savage throwing the ball. His four turnovers are most certainly in-part responsible for the Texans being held to just seven points against the Los Angeles Rams last Sunday.

Writer’s Prediction:

While the Cardinals are just 4-5 on the season, all 5 of their losses have come against teams with winning record (the Lions, Cowboys, Eagles, Seahawks, and Rams). Arizona has shown that they can handle their business on the road against bad teams, and hold a 14-4 ATS record in their last 18 away games against a team with a losing home record. On the flip side, the Houston Texans are just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games against a squad with a losing record on the road. The conclusion? Take the Cardinals.
