Betting on the Atlanta Hawks (20-50)

This is a meaningless game for the Hawks, as they won’t be making the playoffs this season. If anything, a win over the defending NBA champions could be considered Atlanta’s greatest accomplishment of the season. The Hawks nearly did just that on Mar. 2, when they lost a close one to Golden State at home, 114-109. Dennis Schroder and Kent Bazemore did most of the heavy lifting for Atlanta, as they scored 27 and 29 points, respectively. Taurean Prince and John Collins also had good games, too, as the two combined for 31 points and 11 rebounds. The Warriors are not likely going to play Klay Thompson, Steph Curry, and Kevin Durant this Friday with the three still not 100 percent recovered from their injuries, plus Golden State has no urgent reason to deploy their stars.

The Hawks are 3-1 ATS in their last four games against Golden State.

Betting on the Golden State Warriors (53-18)

Point Spread: (click here)

The Warriors are limping towards the end of the regular season with a number of their players on the shelf. As mentioned, Curry, Durant, and Thompson have been nursing injuries, and reports have said the three will be held out for more games. That said, the Warriors should still be good enough to take down the careening Hawks, who have lost all their last five trips to Oracle Arena dating back to 2012. Durant and Curry each scored 28 points in the win against Atlanta earlier this month, while Thompson had 15. The Warriors could also be without Draymond Green, who sustained a pelvic contusion in an 89-75 loss at home to the San Antonio Spurs last Monday. Should all four All-Stars miss the Atlanta game together, it’ll be a free-for-all for the Warriors’ second stringers. Nick Young, Andre Iguodala, David West and even Quinn Cook should significant increases in playing time.

Golden State has averaged only 102.4 points over its last five games.

Writer’s Prediction:

With or without KD, Steph, Klay, and Dray, Golden State will win and cover the spread.
