The Baltimore Ravens added to the woes of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as they defeated Tom Brady and company in Week 8, 27-22. The Ravens have now won three of their last four games and both of their last two. They will look to win their third game in a row this coming Monday against the New Orleans Saints, who just ended a two-game losing streak by shutting out the Las Vegas Raiders in a 24-0 home win last Sunday. Regular Season Record: 5-3
There will be key players on the side of the Ravens who will be carrying questionable labels this week ahead of the contest against the Saints. Running back Gus Edwards, wide receiver Rashod Bateman, and tight end Mark Andrews all seemed to get hurt/aggraveted earlier injuries in the win over the Buccaneers. That being said, the Ravens are not short on talent. Lamar Jackson is still their quarterback, and he is way better than what the Saints have. Plus Bateman, Andrews, and Edwards could still end up playing in Week 9.
The Ravens, who are averaging 26.0 points per game – good for sixth in the NFL – have seen the total hit the Under in seven of their last 10 games overall.
Betting on the New Orleans Saints (+2.5)
Regular Season Record: 3-5
It was the Alvin Kamara Show in Week 8 for the Saints. The running back had 62 rushing yards and a touchdown on 18 carries against the Raiders. He also had a team-high of 96 receiving yards to go with a pair of touchdowns on nine catches and 10 targets. He could get more help on offense in Week 9 if Jarvis Landry returns from an injury that has caused him to miss all Saints games since Week 4. Then of course, there is New Orleans’ defense that has gotten its moxie back after blanking the Raiders. The Saints’ secondary made life horrible for Derek Carr and star wide receiver Davante Adams who caught just one pass for a mere total of three yards. The Saints might have just turned a corner.
The Saints are 3-2 against the spread in their last five games overall.
Writer’s Prediction
The Saints win, 27-24.
