Pitching for Washington in this National League matchup is Stephen Strasburg (15-1, 2.63 ERA). He was solid in his last start, allowing just one run on three hits in six innings of action in the Nationals’ 14-1 thumping of the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday. Strasburg was just named Pitcher of the Month for July after recording a 2.08 ERA in five starts with 37 strikeouts in 34.2 innings. The Nats have won seven of their last eight games with Strasburg as their starter.

As for the Giants, they will have Matt Cain as their pitcher tonight. He was superb in his last outing, throwing five no-hit innings in San Francisco’s 3-1 win over Washington on Sunday. It was a historic result for Cain who recorded his 100th career victory. He now owns a 5.53 ERA to go along with a 1.50 WHIP in 2016.

Writer’s Prediction

Washington wins, 5-2.

Texas Rangers vs. Houston Astros (7:10 PM ET)

Line: Texas Rangers vs. Houston Astros view all MLB lines

Starting for the Texas Rangers in the second game of this three-game set is Lucas Harrell (3-2, 3.57 ERA). It’s going to be an emotional outing for Harrell who’s making his first career start against his former team. Harrell spent four seasons with Houston between 2011-14. The right-hander picked up the victory in his Rangers debut against the Kansas City Royals on Sunday, allowing just three runs on four hits in six innings of work.

The Astros, on the other hand, will counter with Doug Fister (10-7, 3.56 ERA). He was spectacular in his last outing, throwing six innings of shutout ball in Houston’s 2-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday. Fister struck out eight batters in that ballgame. It was a huge bounce-back performance by Fister who had allowed six runs in his previous outing against the New York Yankees. The Astros are now 3-1 in Fister’s last four starts.

Writer’s Prediction

Houston wins, 4-2.
