Line: Kansas City Royals (+110) at Detroit Tigers (-120); total: 7.5 – see all MLB lines
[sc:MLB240banner ]The Detroit Tigers will look to complete a three-game series sweep against the Kansas City Royals and will turn the ball over to Rick Porcello (15-10, 3.30 ERA). He has struggled in his last two starts allowing a total of eight earned runs on 21 hits in just 9 2/3 innings of work.
However, he has been impressive against the Royals lately with the Tigers going 4-0 in his last four appearances against Kansas City.
The Royals, on the other hand, will send their best pitcher James Shield (13-7, 3.23 ERA) to the mound. He has won his last four away starts for Kansas City and will have to do the same for the Royals on Wednesday night to avert the sweep and remain in control of the AL Central.
The Tigers are 6-4 in their last 10 home games while the Royals are 5-5 in their last 10 games on the road.
Writer’s Prediction
The Royals win to avoid the sweep.
Oakland Athletics vs. Chicago White Sox (8:10 PM ET)
Line: Oakland Athletics (-175) at Chicago White Sox (+155); total: 8.5 – see all MLB lines
The Athletics will look to build on their morale-boosting 11-2 victory last night and will send Jeff Samardzija (6-12, 3.21 ERA) to the mound. The last time he pitched at U.S. Cellular Field, he struck out seven and didn’t allow a single run as he recorded a no-decision in a 3-1 loss while playing for the Chicago Cubs back in May.
The Chicago White Sox will counter with Chris Bassitt (0-1, 7.36 ERA). The 25-year-old has appeared in just two games so far for the White Sox, allowing a total of six earned runs on nine hits in 7 1/3 innings of work.
The White Sox are 4-6 in their last ten home games while the Athletics have just won three of their last 10 games on the road. The Athletics have found the going difficult at U.S. Cellular Field as well, losing six of their last 10 games there.
Writer’s Prediction
The Athletics win their second in a row against the White Sox.
