Betting on the Seattle Mariners (+1.5)

Regular Season Record: 29-27

The Mariners avoided a sweep at the hands of the New York Yankees at home, as they defeated the Bronx Bombers on Wednesday in extra innings, 1-0. Seattle has won three of its last five games and has also won in seven of its last 10 outings. The Mariners, who are 4-0 in their last four games against rivals in the American League West division, will have Luis Castillo on the mound this Friday. Castillo has been great for the Mariners this season, going 4-2 with a 2.69 ERA and 0.99 WHIP in 11 starts, thus far. Seattle has won in both of his last two starts during which he allowed zero runs on five hits over 12 innings total.

The Mariners are 6-0 in their last six games after scoring two or fewer runs in a prior outing.

Betting on the Texas Rangers (-1.5)

Regular Season Record: 35-20

The Rangers remain on top of the American League West division even after their 3-2 loss last Wednesday to the Detroit Tigers during the conclusion of a three-game series that they still won, two games to one. On the mound for Texas this Friday will be Jon Gray, who has been dependable this year. He is fresh off an incredible May in which he went 4-0 with a 1.95 WRA in five starts. Included in those starts was the Rangers’ 2-1 win over Seattle on May 8 in which he allowed just an earned run on four hits with eight strikeouts in seven innings. He has a 5-1 record with a 2.81 ERA and 1.11 WHIP in 2023.

The Rangers are 7-0 in their last seven games after a loss.

Writer’s Prediction

The Rangers win, 3-2.
