Line: New York Yankees (+155) vs. Toronto Blue Jays (-175); total: 9.0 – view all MLB lines
[sc:MLB240banner ]With Masahiro Tanaka nursing a strained hamstring, the Yankees have chosen Ivan Nova (6-8, 5.11 ERA) to replace him as the starter for Wednesday’s series finale with the Blue Jays. Nova, who was removed from the rotation just a few days ago, will get a shot in redeeming himself from his last start on September 12 versus Toronto, during which he was rocked for six earned runs and six hits in less than two innings for the eventual 10-7 loss.
There’s a pretty good chance for Nova to have a notable performance this time around as he’s been slightly better in road games, owning a 3-3 record with a decent 3.75 ERA across three turns.
As for the Blue Jays, they will be countering with Marcus Stroman, who’s been spectacular in his first two starts of the season after fully recovering from a torn ACL. In that stretch, Stroman is 2-0 with a 3.00 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and a .233 opponents’ batting average.
New York is 1-4 in Nova’s previous five starts. Toronto, on the other hand, is 5-5 in its past 10 games.

Toronto (-175) wins, 6-4, thanks to another strong performance from Stroman.
Milwaukee Brewers vs. Chicago Cubs (10:05 PM ET)
Line: Milwaukee Brewers (+200 ) vs. Chicago Cubs (-240); total: 0.0 – view all MLB lines
Zach Davies (1-2, 6.00 ERA) earned his first big league win with seven solid innings of one-run ball on September 7 at Miami. But he was troubled in his next two starts, allowing nine earned runs and 11 hits through 9 2/3 frames, while issuing nine walks to his name as well. Davies will try to continue finding his form opposite the Cubs at Wrigley Field despite holding a miserable 5.91 ERA and 1.41 WHIP across two road starts.
Speaking of the Cubs, they’ll be handing the ball to Kyle Hendricks, who is 7-6 with a 4.22 ERA thus far this season. Hendricks is on track for a promising performance later, as he’s fared extremely well against the Brewers with an unblemished 3-0 record and an ERA of 1.07 throughout four career starts.
Milwaukee is 2-2 overall with Davies starting. Chicago, meanwhile, is 5-2 in Hendricks last seven turns.
Writer’s Prediction
Cubs (-240) complete the sweep with a 7-3 victory.
