Baltimore Orioles vs. Washington Nationals (7:05 PM ET)

Line: Baltimore Orioles (+165) at Washington Nationals (-185); total 7.5 – view these lines

[sc:MLB240banner ]Baltimore Orioles’ manager Buck Showalter will be paying a visit to his former student Washington Nationals coach Matt Williams. Not only will the game be a clash of two familiar faces, it will also feature a spectacular matchup between two excellent pitchers. Stephen Strasburg (7-6, 3.53 ERA) will be on the mound for Washington on the heels of six-straight home wins. Strasburg will go head-to-head against Baltimore’s red-hot starter Chris Tillman (7-4, 4.21 ERA) who is 6-0 in his last 10 road starts.

The game will likely be decided on which team can support their pitchers with valuable runs. Washington batters have hit .375 against Tillman in their careers. On the other hand, Baltimore’s have hit just .158 against Strasburg in their careers. Read the full preview here.

Writer’s Prediction

Strasburg will add to his win streak at home, take Washington for a win over Baltimore.

San Francisco Giants vs. Oakland Athletics (10:05 PM ET)

Line: San Francisco Giants (+135) at Oakland Athletics (-150); total 8.0 – view these lines

Jesse Chavez

San Francisco starter Ryan Vogelsong (5-5, 3.86 ERA) has been solid limiting opponents to just three runs over 13.0 innings of play in his last two matches. But, Vogelsong lacked run support from his teammates to win the games. For the game against Oakland, the Giants will be able to support their pitcher with offense through Brandon Belt and Hunter Pence. Belt had two RBIs for the Giants in their previous game, while Hunter had three runs from three hits. However, the two have yet to face Oakland pitcher Jesse Chavez (6-5, 3.23 ERA).

Oakland is 3-2 in Chavez’s last five starts, but the pitcher has left much to be desired. He has given up 13 runs (12 earned) over the five-game span relying mostly on his team’s run support to win the games. Oakland is currently leading the MLB in runs with 435, and had scored 14 runs over the course of their last four games. The full breakdown and analysis for this game can be seen here.

Writer’s Prediction

Oakland will once again showcase their vaunted offense outscoring San Francisco for the win.
