Washington Nationals vs. Baltimore Orioles (7:05 PM ET)
Line: Washington Nationals (-127) at Baltimore Orioles (+117); total: 9.0 – view all MLB lines
Stephen Strasburg (15-4, 3.59 ERA) is hoping to finally relocate his form tonight. He heads into this opener against the Orioles coming off another miserable outing versus the Rockies last week. In that game, he lasted for less than two frames after being rocked for nine earned runs. That also marked his third-consecutive loss. Strasburg is 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA across two career starts against Baltimore.
Meanwhile, the Orioles are sending Dylan Bundy (6-4, 3.36 ERA) to toe the rubber. He also aims for redemption later, as the 23-year-old rookie surrendered five runs on nine hits over 4 1/3 innings versus Boston on Wednesday. It was one of the righty’s worst starts of his career. Bundy is 2-2 with a 3.05 ERA through 15 home games (four starts) this season.
Writer’s Prediction
Nats (-127) win it, 7-2.
New York Yankees vs. Seattle Mariners (10:10 PM ET)
Line: New York Yankees at Seattle Mariners – view all MLB lines
Getting the nod for the Yankees is Michael Pineda (6-10, 4.89 ERA), who started his MLB career with his next opponent – the Mariners. He threw for five scoreless innings in his last time out versus Toronto and carries an ERA of 3.18 in three starts this month. Pineda is 1-1 with a 4.50 ERA across two career starts against his former club.
Seattle, on the other hand, puts its trust on Cody Martin (1-2, 3.14 ERA). He’s set to make his second spot start after yielding two runs on seven hits in over 4 1/3 innings against the Angels on Wednesday. It’ll be interesting to see if Martin can better that performance in front of a raucous home crowd.
Writer’s Prediction
Mariners win it, 6-4.
