Betting on the Seattle Mariners (+1.5)

Regular Season Record: 55-49

Seattle lost to the Yankees in the series opener Monday, 7-2, and that’s now the Mariners’ second loss in a row. The Mariners are just 1-4 in their last five games and 4-4 in their previous eight. Taking the mound for the Mariners in Game 2 of this series will be Logan Gilbert. The 25-year-old right toes the rubber later tonight carrying a 10-4 record and a 2.78 ERA while also having a 1.15 WHIP. Although the Mariners have lost in his last two starts, he can hardly be blamed for those, as he allowed just four earned runs on 10 hits across 12.0 innings in those games. The Mariners’ offense is slashing just .205/.286/.324 since the 2022 MLB All-Star break.

The Mariners are 5-0 in their last five games on a Tuesday.

Betting on the New York Yankees (-1.5)

Regular Season Record: 70-34

With Monday’s win over Seattle, the Bronx Bombers have now reached the 70-win plateau this season, and with still a ton of games left to play. Their offense remains deadly, as New York has 24 homers so far in the second half of the season – the most in the majors at the moment. Taking the mound for the Yankees in this upcoming contest will be Jameson Taillon. The 30-year-old vet has a 10-2 record along with a 3.72 ERA and 1.16 WHIP. In his last start, Taillon stymied the Kansas City Royals for six innings, allowing zero runs and just four hits in a 1-0 victory at home on July 28. The Yankees’ offense is slashing .244/.329/.460 since the All-Star break.

The Over is 8-1 in the Yankees’ last nine games as the home team.

Writer’s Prediction

The Yankees win, 6-4.
