Portland Trail Blazers vs. Cleveland Cavaliers (7:00 PM ET)

Line: Portland Trail Blazers vs. Cleveland Cavaliers – view all NBA lines

The Blazers just lost to the Knicks on the road and are trending down, as they have lost four of their last five. Damian Lillard has slowed down as well. After starting his first 11 games averaging with a 31-5-5 (49-percent shooting), it has now gone down to 21-4-4 (39-percent shooting). Dame’s number one partner in crime, CJ McCollum has picked up some of the scoring as a result, and has upped his numbers to 25 points, while also splashing three threes per game.

It’s the poor defense that’s killing Rip City. Out of their 16 games this season, only two have failed to score 100 or more points. The 112.2 points they allow every night is the third-most in the league.

The defending champs, meanwhile, are right where everyone expected them to be: sitting at the top of the east with a 10-2 record. The team’s big three of LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Love, are playing better than ever, with all three averaging 20 or more points.

Rim protector Tristan Thompson is also playing well, posting career highs in rebounds (10.3) and blocks (1.7) per game, as well as shooting percentage (61.2 percent).

Cleveland’s offense is fourth in points per game (108.6), fifth in rebounds per game (46.3), second in threes per game (12.8). Their respectable defense, on the other hand, is showing on their opponents’ shooting, as they are allowing the sixth-lowest field goal percentage, with a 43.6 mark.

Writer’s Prediction

Cleveland wins, 112-104.

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Golden State Warriors (10:30 PM ET)

Line: Los Angeles Lakers vs. Golden State Warriors – view all NBA lines

The Lake Show just got done with Russell Westbrook and his Oklahoma City Thunder. They won, 111-109, and survived Westbrook’s fourth quarter onslaught (17 points in the quarter), thanks to Nick Young hitting a wild three with only 5.9 seconds left. The Lakers are now 8-7.

Teams are not usually excited to go battle the Warriors at Oracle Arena’s rowdy crowd, but the Lakers are one of the rare exceptions. Dating back to last season, they have beaten the two-time defending West champs twice, both in convincing fashion, having an average winning margin of 18.5.

With D’Angelo Russell unlikely to play and Julius Randle nursing an injury (hip), the team will expect Young (14 ppg), Lou Williams (16 ppg), and Jordan Clarkson (14 ppg) to lead the scoring Wednesday.

Offensively, they may give the Warriors a few challenges (109.8, sixth in the league), but it’s their lackluster defense that’ll kill them in this game. You can still bet on the Lakers, though. since they are the only one to hold the super team to under 100 points this season, just remember that this time, they’ll be playing on the road.

As for the Warriors, they are a headache. They give offense, offense, and some more offense every single night. They can beat you inside and out with ease, and can also punish you with their excellent ball movement (30.9 apg, first in the league).

With revenge on their minds, expect an aggressive Warrior team right from the get go. They will be parading their 117 ppg on 49.3-percent shooting, which are also league-leading stats.

The Lakers, who are like sloths on defense, are bound to be blasted by Kevin Durant (26.9 ppg), Stephen Curry (26 ppg), Klay Thompson (20.4 ppg), and Draymond Green (10.8 ppg, 9.1 rpg, and 6.9 apg).

Writer’s Prediction

The Warriors win, 120-101.
