NRG Stadium parking lots
Like a normal NFL franchise would, the Houston Texans encourage tailgating, and they have several spaces to hold as many tail-gaiters as possible. The stadium is surrounded by eight parking lots, labelled Blue, Yellow, Purple, Orange, Green, Red, Maroon, and teal.
The Blue and Orange lot, which faces the South Loop Interstate 160 and Fannin Street, respectively, seems to be always occupied by the best crowd. The Texans have awarded the fans at the area as the “Best Tailgaters Of The Week” three times each during the season.
Should the two get too populated, you can head over to the Yellow lot, located along Main Street (northeast part of the park). It’s the second largest lot at NRG, next to Blue.
Among the handful of bars that have taken their “talents” to Houston’s tailgating festivities is the Texans Brew Crew. They usually occupy the the Blue lot, where they bring in their well-loved food and classic sports-nut atmosphere.
Texas Tailgate 51
Texas Tailgate 51 will be hosted by retired NFL veteran Daryl “Moose” Johnston, a beloved sports figure in the state of Texas. The two-time Pro-Bowler played fullback for the Dallas Cowboys from 1989-1998, and helped the ‘Boys win three Super Bowls.
The pre-game festivities will be held inside an indoor facility just across NRG stadium. It’ll be from 1:30 PM to 5:30 PM ET (SB kickoff is 6:30 PM), with surprise guests that could include various NFL greats and personalities.
Food, booze, and more are sure to be there!
The Players Tailgate
Held just 1 1/2 blocks across NRG Stadium, The Players Tailgate will once again boast food and personalities that can magnet every sports fan out there. Along with having dozens of world-class chefs cook for the event, which’ll be headlined Guy Fieri, the watch party will also be attended by past and current NFL players. This year’s lineup will include the recently-retired Devin Hester, Seahawks DE Michael Bennett, Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill, Jaguars TE Julius Thomas, Niners RB Carlos Hyde, and a whole lot more.
The menu is sure to be off-the charts. You can expect steaks, BBQs, burgers, chicken, booze, AND MORE to be there from beginning to end.
