Betting on the Boston Red Sox (17-14)
Boston looks to continue punishing opponents with its hot bats. The team enters this interleague series at Miller Park having scored 32 runs combined in its three-game weekend series with the Twins.
The Red Sox came away with two wins in that set, giving them their sixth victory in 10 games to improve to 17-14 on the season, good for third in the American League East. They’re the clear-cut favorites (EVEN) to win their division.
With his teammates sizzling at the plate, Drew Pomeranz (3-1, 4.00 ERA) should carry more confidence on the mound. He’s allowed no more than two runs in all but one of his five starts this season—a stretch in which he’s accumulated 34 K’s and where Boston went 4-1.
Betting on the Milwaukee Brewers (16-16)
Eric Thames ended his home run drought at the right time for the Brewers, who saved themselves from a sweep with a 6-2 win against Pittsburgh on Sunday.
The bearded first baseman blasted his 12th homer of the year in the final frame and finished with three hits. Travis Shaw and Jesus Aguilar also had a dinger each to help Milwaukee win and re-insert itself at the .500 mark.
The Brewers rank seventh in the majors in scoring this season with 4.78 runs per game.
Wily Peralta (4-2, 4.88 ERA) heads to the mount here, hoping to notch win No. 5 after being denied of it in his previous start versus St. Louis. Peralta threw 5 1/3 innings of two-run ball with seven strikeouts, but earned his second loss of the year.
Brewers (+130) win it, 6-5.
