TV Broadcast: MLBN/ESPN

Betting on the Boston Red Sox (-1.5)

Regular Season Record: 46-40

It’s all road games for the Red Sox from here on out until the 2022 MLB All-Star break. They are coming off a testy series against archnemesis New York Yankees and will be starting this Monday 23-year-old Brayan Bello made his major league debut on July 6 which was also against the Rays. In that game, he allowed 4 earned runs on 6 hits with a pair of strikeouts and 3 walks in 4.0 innings of a 7- loss. That was still somewhat of a decent start for Bello, considering his level of experience. Some adjustments from the Dominican righty could yield a better result this time around, especially if the Red Sox provide him with fatter run support. However, Boston will not have Rafael Devers, as the third baseman is dealing with a back injury that would keep him out for this contest.

Betting on the Tampa Bay Rays (+1.5)

Regular Season Record: 45-40

The Rays will look to continue their mastery of Boston this season. They are 4-2 against the Red Sox this year, having won both of the first two series between the two sides. On the mound for Tampa Bay this Monday will be 29-year-old Jeffrey Springs, who has been so dependable this season for the Rays. The Rays have not lost in any of Springs’ last six appearances. That includes his last start on July 5 in which he allowed just 3 earned runs on 5 hots in 4.0 innings of an 8-4 win over the Red Sox at home. Back in April, he appeared in relief during a 3-2 win over the Red Sox at home, too, pitching for 2.0 innings and allowing zero runs and zero hits. Randy Arozarena and Yandy Diaz lead the pack of Tampa Bay hitters. Diaz is hitting .270 at home this season, while Arozarena has two homers and 17 RBIs this year in games at Tropicana Field.

Writer’s Prediction

The Rays win, 6-3.
