Betting on the Denver Broncos (3-2)
The Denver Broncos are coming off a terrible home loss against the depleted New York Giants. The Broncos lost at home, 23-10. Trevor Siemian was 29 of 50 for 376 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in the surprising home loss. Siemian play so poorly, the Broncos inserted former starter Brock Osweiler into the lineup. Osweiler was 2 of 4 for 18 yards. Denver had 412 total yards of offense, but three costly turnovers killed Denver.
The turnovers didn’t help, and neither did the usually solid Broncos rushing attack. Denver ran the ball just 17 times, for 46 yards and no touchdowns. The New York defense held Denver to 2.7 yards per carry. If Denver can’t establish the run game early, this will play in favor for the Chargers this week.
The Broncos defense only allowed 266 total yards of offense from New York, but the turnovers are what hurt Denver. The run defense looked tired throughout the game. Giants running back Orleans Darkwa ran for 117 yards in the win. The secondary played well, limiting the Giants Eli Manning. He was 11 of 19 for 128 yards and one touchdown.
Betting on the Los Angeles Chargers (2-4)
The Chargers have won two in a row. Los Angeles last played the Raiders in Oakland and squeezed out a win, 17-16. The Chargers scored 10 points in the fourth quarter, leading to the comeback victory. Chargers quarterback Phillip Rivers willed his team to victory again last week. Rivers was 25 of 36 for 268 yards one touchdown and no interceptions. Unknown receiver Henry Hunt was good with five catches for 90 yards in the win.
Melvin Gordon also played well for the Chargers offense. He had 25 carries for 83 yards and one touchdown on the ground. Gordon also had 9 receptions for 67 yards and one touchdown receiving. If the Chargers want to get it done at home, Gordon must get touches early and often this week.
On defense, the Chargers allowed 274 yards on the road against Oakland. Derek Carr was back from injury and threw two interceptions. This week look for the underrated Chargers secondary to create turnovers. The Broncos are struggling at quarterback right now.
Writer’s Prediction:
The Denver Broncos must bounce back from their loss against the New York Giants and have a great chance as they will be able to take over the soccer stadium and the poor performance of Rivers. Pick: Broncos
