Cavs vs Warriors Christmas Day Predictions, Odds, Picks, Betting Preview 2017

There is no bigger Christmas Day game in recent memory than the matchup between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors. The two teams don’t hold win-loss records that many expected (a respective opinion) at this juncture, with the Warriors (second in the West) going 26-7 and the Cavaliers (third in the East) just 24-9. Regardless, this is a highly anticipated game with TopBet players initially favoring Golden State over Cleveland with about 60% of their bets (at press) but we expect the number to balance out as news broke about Stephen Curry not playing due to an ankle injury.

It’s a late afternoon game this year so you’ve got plenty of time to put aside your presents (for a moment), sign-up a betting account, make your pick, and potentially pay off your holiday shopping bill with one well-placed wager!

TV Broadcast: ABC

Betting on the Cleveland Cavaliers (24-9)

Point Spread: (click here)

The Cavs are No. 4 in scoring in the league, at slightly over 111 points per game. They also rank in the top four in each of the three NBA shooting percentages. As expected, Lebron James continues to lead the season MVP conversation, averaging 28.4 points on 57 percent shooting, 8.2 rebounds, 9.2 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks. His back-up squad is doing their job, with double digit averages for the three reserves which include Dwyane Wade, Jeff Green and Kyle Korver, while K-Love is pulling his own by averaging nearly 20-points per game.

On the road this season, the Cleveland Cavaliers are currently 10-5 straight up and 9-6 against the spread. They are also facing down the barrel of a lengthy stretch on the road, playing eight of their next nine games away from home, beginning right here in Oak-town.

Betting on the Golden State Warriors (26-7)

Point Spread: (click here)

The Warriors are 4.5-point favorites, a major shift from the opening of 7.5 thanks to the news that Stephen Curry would not be playing.

“He can’t play. That would be completely irresponsible if he did,” (Steve Kerr – ABC News)

However, the Warriors have not lost the pep in their step since their star guard injured his ankle earlier this month. In fact, they hadn’t lost a game without the point guard until Saturday’s lazy affair against the Denver Nuggets. Golden State is deep, with Durant averaging more than 32 points during the Curry-free stretch. With the 3rd place (East) Cavs eager to get back home to spend Christmas night with their families (and side chicks) don’t be surprised if the Warriors walk away with this game, sans Stephen.

Writer’s Prediction:

The Golden State Warriors are currently 12-4 straight up but a not-so-good 7-9 against the spread when playing at Oracle Arena. But it’s Christmas in Golden State, they’ll take this one and cover.
