Betting on the Cincinnati Reds (odds)
Regular Season Record: 25-47
After suffering seven losses in a row, the Reds went 2-1 in their most recent series against the San Francisco Giants. In the third and last game of that matchup, the Reds eked out a 0-3 victory to give them some momentum heading into the series against the Cubs. On the mound for the Reds this Tuesday will be Luis Castillo, who is among the big names to watch ahead of the 2022 MLB trade deadline. The former All-Star owns a 2-4 record with a 3.71 ERA and 1.14 WHIP. He faced the Cubs back in May at home, allowing just 2 earnerd runs on 4 hits with 6 strikeouts in 5.0 innings of a 4-3 victory. Cincy hopes to get some action at the plate from Brandon Drury, who is batting .272 with 15homers and 38 RBIs this season.
Betting on the Chicago Cubs (odds)
Regular Season Record: 28-45
The Cubs are also coming off a split in three-game series against the St. Louis Cardinals on the road, which ended in a 6-5 victory on Sunday. Getting the ball for the Cubs in Game 1 of this upcoming series against Cincinnati is right Keegan Thompson. The 27-yearold Thompson is 7-2 with a 3.10 ERA and 1.154 WHIP this season. He is on a groove of late, having allowed just an earned run on 6 hits across 12 innings in his last couple of starts against the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Atlanta Braves. He hasn’t seen the Reds yet this season, but the current active Cincinnati roster only has a career batting average of .062 against him. Speaking of being in a groove, Cubs third baseman Patrick Wisdom has batted .294 with a pair of homers in his last 14 games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Cubs win, 4-3.
