Betting on the Cleveland Browns (-2)
Regular Season Record: 2-1
The Browns picked up their second win of the season by tearing the Chicago Bears apart in Week 3’s 26-6 home win. They almost literally tore apart Bears rookie quarterback Justin Fields in that game, as the Browns’ defense recorded nine sacks that led to 67 yards lost for Chicago. Myles Garrett had half of those sacks, while Jadeveon Clowney registered a pair of sacks. Garrett and Clowney are going to be a huge threat to the Vikings’ offensive line, regardless of how it’s performed in the past three weeks. And then the Vikings will also have to sweat the Browns’ offense that features the best 1-2 running back combo in the NFL, with Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. The Browns’ offense that is averaging 28.7 points per game is being powered by their run game, which is No. 1 in the league in rushing touchdowns per game (2.7) and in yards per carry (5.1).
The Browns are 4-0 against the spread in their last four games after a win.
Betting on the Minnesota Vikings (+2)
Regular Season Record: 1-2
The Vikings finally scored a win, as they defeated the Seattle Seahawks in Week 3 at home for Minnesota’s first victory of the season. Kirk Cousins was solid under center against the Seahawks, passing for 323 yards and three touchdowns without an interception on 30/38 completions. Justin Jefferson blew up with 118 receiving yards and a touchdown on nine carries, while Tyler Conklin caught seven catches for 70 yards and a TD. Conklin is questionable to play against the Browns, but the Vikings seem to be getting Dalvin Cook back. The running back missed the Seahawks game with an injury, but the Vikings were still able to get 112 rushing yards on 26 carries from backup Alexander Mattison. If Cook can’t go, the Vikings can still lean on Mattison, who’s arguably the best fantasy football handicap in the NFL today.
The Vikings are 6-2 against the spread in their last eight games as an underdog.
Writer’s Prediction
The Browns win, 30-23.
