Betting on the Detroit Tigers (odds)
Regular Season Record: 28-44
The Tigers won two of three games in their most recent series, which was against the Arizona Diamondbacks on the road. However, they are coming off an 11-7 loss in that series finale on Sunday, so they will be looking to get back in the win column when Tarik Skubal takes the mound this Tuesday against the Giants. Skubal has struggled of late, having allowed 15 earned runs in his last three starts. But he still carries a decent 5-5 record with 3.63 ERA and 1.13 WHIP this year, so far. Good ole Miguel Cabrera could make a big difference at the plate in this contest, as he is 7-of-19 (.368) with 2 home runs and 5 RBIs in his career against Giants starter Carlos Rodon. Meanwhile, Javier Baez is starting to heat up, having hit .280 with 4 home runs and 10 RBIs in his last 13 games.
Betting on the San Francisco Giants (odds)
Regular Season Record: 39-33
The Giants are in a middle of a mediocre stretch. They have lost four of their last five games and are just 2-6 in their last eight outings. In their last game, they lost to the Cincinnati Reds at home, 10-3, Sunday. Carlos Rodon will look to rescue the Giants when he starts this Tuesday. He has been fantastic this season, especially this June in which he is 2-0 with a 1.20 ERA. Overall this year, Rodon owns a 6-4 record with a 2.70 ERA and 1.09 WHIP. In his most recent outing, he struck out 10 and allowed only an earned run on 3 hits in 7.0 innings of action in a 4-3 road loss to the Atlanta Braves. Behind Rodon is San Francisco’s offense that is top 10 in the majors in both wOBA and wRC+.
Writer’s Prediction
The Giants win, 5-2.
