Betting on Eugenie Bouchard (-125)

Eugenie Bouchard finally recorded her first win in a while as she took care of No. 8 seed Christina McHale in the first round, 7-6(6), 6-0. While Bouchard got just 48 percent of her first serves in play, she still won 77 percent of first serve points, and 61 percent of second serve points.

Bouchard had previously gone winless in her three grass court tournaments as she suffered three-straight, three-set first-round exits to continue what has been another disappointing season in 2017.

The 23-year-old Canadian has a 10-13 record overall. She suffered an even worse losing streak earlier in the year—five first-round exits in a row—including four in hard court tournaments.

Betting on Andrea Petkovic (-105)

Andrea Petkovic is in the midst of her worst season since turning pro. The 29-year-old German is just 8-15 in tour main draws this season. However, she did get a very good, morale-boosting straight-sets win over World No. 98 Kurumi Nara in the first round.

Petkovic’s serve was on point as she put 71 percent of her first serves in play. She also dominated the return game as she won 53 percent of return points, and converted six of seven break point opportunities.

Petkovic went 5-5 on hard court earlier in the year, although none of the five wins were against anyone of note.

But despite her disappointing form, Petkovic is a legitimate threat to upset the slightly-favored Bouchard. Petkovic has won four of five career head-to-heads against the Canadian, including all three of their matches on hard court.

Writer’s Prediction

Petkovic (-105) pulls off the slight upset on Bouchard as she wins in three sets.
