The Spaniard, though, isn’t having a good year thus far. While he has an 18-13 record in ATP tournaments, he only has a mediocre 4-5 record over his last 10 matches. In his most recent outing, Verdasco lost to Kevin Anderson in Nottingham earlier this month.
Verdasco was able to reel in a big fish in Stan Wawrinka at the ATP Aegon Championship also this June before falling to Tomic via a score of 7-6 (7-2), 4-6, 4-6 in the second round of the tournament. Tomic is a -240 favorite to win this matchup against Verdasco. He has the number of the Verdasco, as suggested by the head-to-head record mentioned earlier. On top of those, Tomic is in a much better form entering Wimbledon with a 4-1 slate over his past five contests.
Verdasco could only reach the semifinals of his most recent event, the ATP Aegon Championship, no thanks to a 6-4, 6-4 loss to Milos Raonic. In any case, Verdasco will have all the confidence coming into another meeting with Verdasco.

Like Verdasco, Tomic has experienced notable success at Wimbledon before. The 23-year-old Tomic managed to get to the quarterfinals in 2011 as a qualifier and followed that up with a fourth-round appearance the next year.
