Last week’s race at Kentucky was arguably the most thrilling of the season, as we saw the Busch brothers, Kyle and Kurt, go toe to toe into the finish line. The older Kurt won in the end, but overall, Kyle remains the best driver on the season. Will we see Kyle Busch bounce back with a win and add more to his lead atop the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup standings? Or will another driver notch the victory?

FAVORITES
Kyle Busch
Busch returned to his top-10 ways last weekend, as he finished second in a thrilling race at Kentucky. He was hairline away from winning his fifth race of the season, which would’ve pushed him to solo first in terms of win totals, but his brother, Kyle, was not going to allow him to get the victory. Still, it was a fine showing from the Team Joe Gibbs Racing driver, who now has 735 Monster Energy Cup points and 11 top five finishes in 19 races. Busch finished in last year’s Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 race and has an overall count of three wins at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in 27 career starts there.
Martin Truex Jr.
Truex is the next best driver to Kyle Busch on the season. That said, he’s not been in his usual form in the last two races, as he finished 22nd in Daytona and 19th in Kentucky. Truex, however, had a stretch last June in which he had three-straight top three finishes. Don’t be surprised if he’s all dialed in this coming weekend. While Truex has yet to win at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, he’s finished inside the top 7 in each of his last four visits to that track. He was fourth at the 2018 edition of the Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 and third in the same race in 2017.
SLEEPERS
Ryan Newman
Ryan Newman is the man in the bubble as of the moment in the standings, as he is just two points back from Erik Jones, who sits at the last and final playoff spot with 473 points. If that’s not enough motivation for Newman to perform this coming Sunday at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway, then we don’t know what else will. Newman is on the groove lately. He’s had a top 10 finish in four of his last five races, including last week, when he concluded the Kentucky as the ninth overall finisher. Newman can continue trending positively, as he’s had ample success before at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. In 33 career races there, he’s won three times and finished inside the top 10 19 times.
Kurt Busch
Busch scored his first win of the season last week, when he edged his younger brother, Kyle, at Kentucky. He is expecting that that momentum will help him have another good showing in the next race. Busch is very familiar at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. In fact, he’s won three times before there in 35 career starts. He also has eight top five finishes and 15 top 10s.
LONG SHOT
Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
Stenhouse has zero wins on the season, and there’s barely anything in his recent races that suggests that he’s closing in on one. That said, he’s got a pair of top 15 finishes at New Hampshire in his last three appearances at that track.
Writer’s Prediction
Kyle Busch scores his fifth win of the season with a victory at New Hampshire.
