Betting on Francis Ngannou (-280)
MMA Record: 14-3-0
33-year old Ngannou is the currenly #2 in the UFC heavyweight rankings. Ten of his career wins come by KO with four by submission. There are a number of aspects to The Predator’s game coming into this event that bettors will like. For one, he has an Average Fight Time of just over 6-minutes compared to his opponent who edges over to the 7.5-minute mark. This is relevant because the sportsbook predicts this fight to end the quickest of all bouts on the docket for UFC 249, giving the heavyweight matchup top odds (+150) to be done and dusted in a timely manner, perhaps early in the second round. Ngannou also has a reach advantage of 83″ to Rozenstruik’s 78″ and has a 48% defensive rating over his opponent’s paltry 32 percent.
Betting on Jairzinho Rozenstruik (+210)
MMA Record: 10-0-0
31-year old Rozenstruik aka Bigi Boy is ranked 6th in UFC Heavyweight rankings. 90% of this heavy-hitter’s wins have come by KO so he’ll be looking to prove the sportsbook right when it comes to ending the bout quickly. That said, he seeks to prove them wrong in one capacity after being given the underdog status (+210) against Ngannou (-280). Rozenstruik will dig deep in his striking arsenal to push Ngannou to (and over?) the brink. The undefeated heavyweight has the stats to justify doing so, with 3.72 Strikes Landed per Minute rating to Ngannou’s 2.15. He also boasts a better Striking Accuracy of 46% to his opponent’s 37%. Word has it that Rozenstruik has taken the pandemic furlough to work on his defensive game (32%) and if he shows any improvement there he will be a force for Ngannou to reckon with.
Writer’s Prediction
Rozenstruik pulls off an upset at UFC 249 by sending Ngannou to the floor via KO.
