Betting on Gabrine Muguruza

Garbine Muguruza blazed a trail toward her first ever Grand Slam semifinal after defeating a tough set of opponents in Angelique Kerber (third round), Caroline Wozniacki (fourth round) and Timea Bacsinszky (quarterfinal). The Spaniard has seemingly found her form in her last two matches, besting Wozniacki and Bacsinszky each in straight sets.

[sc:Other240banner ]Muguruza’s serve was on point against Bacsinszky in the quarterfinal. She put 69 percent of her first serves into play and won 73 percent of first serve points. Muguruza was also impressive on the return, winning three of four break points to finish the match in just under an hour and a half.

But Muguruza’s second serve could hurt her chances of making her first ever Grand Slam final. She won just nine of 23 second serve points against Bacsinszky. The Spaniard has also struggled with her second serve against semifinal opponent, Agnieszka Radwanska. She’s won just 45 percent of her second serve points in her four head-to-head career matchups against Radwanska.

The Spaniard won her two matches against Radwanska this year.

Betting on Agnieszka Radwanska

Agnieszka Radwanska

Agnieszka Radwanska is coming off a three-set victory over Madison Keys in the quarterfinals to make her fourth career Grand Slam semifinal. Three of those appearances have come at Wimbledon, so Radwanska surely isn’t a novice when it comes to the huge stage of the All England Club.

Radwanska has been a very strong and consistent server at this tournament, winning at least 70 percent of her first serve points in her five matches thus far. She’s also playing pretty clean by having no more than 17 unforced errors in a match. Holding serve will be important for Radwanska. It’ll be very difficult to come back if she allows the younger Muguruza any kind of momentum going forward.

The Pole will be at her best returning Muguruza’s weaker second serves. Radwanska has won 47 percent of return points at the tournament thus far. Putting Muguruza in compromising positions all over the court will do wonders to hit those crucial winners.

Radwanska is 12-2 in her last 14 matches on grass this year.

Writer’s Prediction

Radwasnka (EVEN) wins in three sets.
