FAVORITES

Kyle Busch (+250)

Busch is still sitting pretty atop the NASCAR Cup standings with 818 points. In 21 starts this season, Busch has won four races and finished inside the top 10 several times. In his last start, Busch was ninth overall at the Gander RV 400 at the Pocono Raceway. While he fell short in notching his fifth win of the season last week, Busch has at least managed a top-10 finish in each of his last three races. Busch is never to be ignored in any given race this season, and he could be back on top of the podium at Watkins Glen, where he’s won twice in 14 career appearances there.

Denny Hamlin (+850)

Hamlin hit the jackpot last week. After being just the runner-up to Kevin Harvick at the New Hampshire Speedway during the Foxwoods Resort Casino 301, Hamlin scored his third win of the season at the Gander RV 400. That’s his third-straight top five finish. He’s definitely carrying some serious momentum once he arrives in Watkins Glen, where’s he finished inside the top five in two of his last three races at the Watkins Glen International. That stretch includes his win at the The Cheez-It 355 at The Glen back in 2016.

SLEEPERS

Clint Bowyer (+1200)

Bowyer had an average weekend at the Gander RV 400. He started 13th and finished 11th overall in that race, thus extending his search for his second win of the season. He came close to accomplishing that goal when he placed sixth overall in Kentucky last month. Even though Bowyer has done nothing exceptional over his last two races, he should still be getting your attention, as he’s a solid driver on road course tracks such as the Watkins Glen International. Dating back to 2017, Bowyer leads all drivers with a 5.83 average finish at road course tracks.

Jimmie Johnson (+4000)

Johnson is currently below the cut of the NASCAR Cup playoffs with 520 points overall following the race at Pocono Raceway, where he finished 15th. That’s actually a good sign for the Team Hendricks Motorsports driver, as he was only 30th in each of the previous three races. That means he’s got some momentum going on heading into Watkins Glen International. Johnson, however, hasn’t won a race at Watkins Glen, though, he’s finished inside the top five four times in 17 races at the track.

LONG SHOT

Paul Menard (+10,000)

Menard seems to be just going with the flow this season. He’s won zero races yet, but he’s always there making plenty of average finishes. In his last start, he went 18th at the Gander RV 400. Prior to that, he was 13th overall at the Foxwoods Resort Casino 301. In 15 career races at Watkins Glen International, Menard has put together an average finish of 22.73.

Writer’s Prediction

Clint Bowyer wins the 2019 GoBowling at The Glen.
